I finally sat down and read the whole interview. It's evident that the critics will never get to him. They'll never get to me either Rightok Good for him for doing what feels right for him and not feeling the need to live up to expectations. One thing I love about Johnny as an actor is his risk taking and his inventiveness and creativity. He's never really lost that, IMO. I love that he's "game to try anything" and still has that creative drive. Johnny hasn't changed his approach to acting that much, I try to keep telling everyone that. I completely agree about what he said about the "dog at the track". His immense commercial success really was kind of an accident if you think about it.

Totally, HG. To him, it was just another role that interested him, that he wanted to interpret differently to the regular actor. I always think Johnny would have been happier being just a cog in the wheel, rather than the lead actor, but Pirates turned that on it's head for him. He is now expected to lead and carry a film entirely on his own, and that just isn't his style. His best roles have been almost minor - Agent Sands, Bon-Bon, the original Captain Jack, to name but a few. Captain Jack was a two-edged sword for him, but so long as he ignores the critics and carries on doing his own thing, then I'm good wiv it!

I hope Johnny keeps on doing what he wants and not what others expect of him. He's 51 and I think he shouldn't waste time on projects he's not really interested in.

Cool photoshoot-Johnny looks a lot younger than 51.

Having seen the Mortdecai stills I have to say that this kind of character really suits him. He looks finally old enough to play quirky middle aged gentlemen.

I've always thought he looked too young for his character in "The Ninth Gate".

I'm dreading him saying he's done acting. What will I do ?

Same LT! I would be sad. Yet also very thankful for all he's done.
